"If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living."
Holy moly that seems so simple, right? WRONG! It is said that when someone faces something that scares them they will either confront it head on or run from it. I have always ran from it, it kept things easy, it allowed me to focus on items I could control and for all of you that know me know that I LOVE to be in control.
With this post comes some further clarification for item #23 - Ask out a Guy!
1. Why did I put this on my list? - Honestly, dating is hard, I have never really made time for dating and honestly it has never really bothered me. (I was focused on things I could control.) Adding this as a goal gives me some control over the situation, it allows me to be responsible for dating. While I feel comfort in the control I am fully aware that this also exposes me to the possibility of rejection, something I need to confront head on. (Make life worth living!)
2. What are the rules? - I figure I better be a little more specific about this one. Not only do I have to ask a Guy out (In person or over the phone - Texting and Facebook are not allowed!!! I feel very strongly about this and think everyone should follow this rule.) I also have to go on the date, therefore he has to say, YES! Sounds simple enough, right? Haha - might be harder then I think. I also cannot ask a super close friend just to satisfy the goal.
3. How many times do I have to do this? - Well first I have to keep asking different guys until I get a YES! I have decided to make this a re-occuring goal that must take place quarterly with at least one actual date.
Now that I have made some rules for this item you might be thinking "Is she aware that the first quarter is almost over?" Yes, I am fully aware and actually I have satisfied step one - I asked out a guy! Go ME! I decided there was no better time than the present to jump in and go for it. Unfortunately I was very kindly turned down and I was forced to face my second biggest fear HEAD ON but guess what? I'm ok! The famous author Dale Carnegie said
"You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn't exist anywhere except in the mind."
So here's to facing all fears head on and therefore asking more guys out. Honestly nothing might come of this goal except maybe a little more confidence in who I am. So lets go make life worth living! :)
