Fear Cont'd...

Back in March I published a post on Fear and Bucket List Item #23 - Ask out a Guy! I haven't posted an update on this for awhile.  Quarter 1 was a bust and after putting myself out there I was turned down. Quarter 2 went a little better and I decided to ask out the same guy from the first quarter.  It went better this time and he said yes. During this quarter he actually attended a few things with me and we had a lot of fun.  He is a very nice guy and a total gentleman. Although it didn't work out and we never actually ended up dating he reminded me that there are still good guys out there.  He taught me that we should never settle when it comes to dating. There were a few things that he did that I think all guys can learn from and all girls can remember that they deserve the same:

1. Compliment - He always had a genuine compliment. It made me feel good and it was never generic.

2. Opened Doors - I never touched a door to a car or a building, he always opened it first.
3. Paid - This is one I really struggle with, I don't like other people to do things for me. He would never let me pay when we hung out. At times I would get really frustrated and almost wanted to argue with him but eventually I let him do it because he wanted to do it. It meant a lot and I thank him for it.
4. Kind - He is a very nice guy and was kind to everyone around. He made an effort to try to involve people in the conversation. He was also very kind to me and made me feel important.

I have honestly never been around a guy that has treated me this well and at times I really didn't know how to handle any of it. I have fully convinced myself that I don't need this treatment or that I don't deserve this treatment. However now I know that I want nothing less than this treatment and I deserve it. Not only did I learn a lot I also faced my biggest fears and I put myself out there and...... I was rejected. I am again still alive, I am again just fine and I will again move on. Life is good and I look forward to the 2 quarters left in 2012 to continue to face my fears. Let's go make life worth living!

I throw my hands up in the air sometime..............

I love roller-coasters! I love the anticipation, the thrill and I love putting my hands in the air just before the big drop....what a rush!! The closest amusement park to me is Lagoon so I thought this would be a fun item to add to my bucket list. I talked to a few friends and they were all on board to join me on July 21st. We met bright and early and piled into my car to take the trip down to Farmington Utah. We were planning on a scorcher that day so as soon as we arrived we applied the sunblock and headed into the park. We went from ride to ride and didn't stop all day. The first ride was Wicked (My Favorite) then it continued from there.  Big thanks to Kent, Lacey, Erin, Alicia, Jeff, Charlsee and Jeff for making it such a fun trip.  Here are some pics from the day:
The ride there - we lost everyone to .......sleep!

NO SLEEP ALLOWED

Relay for Life was July 13-14th at Century High School in Pocatello. This is one of my favorite events of the year and I look forward to the all-nighter with friends and family. This was my 4th Relay for Life and I took on the role of Team Captain of the Idaho Central Relay for Life team. The planning starts in the beginning of the year as several volunteers come together to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.  I recruited Whitney to help me this year so we could make it one of the best Relay for Life events. I had a personal goal to raise $500 and the grand total for personal fundraising was (drum roll please)....................................

$469.21!

Even though I fell short of my personal goal I was able to (with the help of Whitney and My ICCU Team Members) raise a total of $2701.43. We organized a penny drive, jean day, kiwi loco fundraiser, and we sold several luminaries and raffle tickets. Several people also made personal donations. HUGE THANKS to everyone that stepped in and help raise funds for such an amazing event.

It is great to have a time to get together to celebrate those that have lost their lives and cheer on those that are currently battling this deadly disease!! We had the best turnout this year and the most people stay all night. Here are a few pics from the night:

Whitney so happy to be here all night!

Linda's birthday was the same day as Relay - What a great time to celebrate being a survivor!

Amazing Co-workers!

Ava ready to Relay

We walked through the wind and the rain and we pushed through to the end. My feet were sore and I was tired but it was worth it to walk for my DAD! I miss him so much and feel so close to him every year at relay.

31. Raise $500 for Relay for Life

I'm Melting!

On July 6th, Whitney, Mick and I loaded into the car and headed to Boise for the Boise Music Festival.  After an eventful drive (including a gangster trying to get me to follow him off the exit) We finally arrived at our hotel room, The Hyatt in Boise Town Square, the room was filthy and we asked for a replacement. They were unable to help us and pretty much provided the worst service I have ever had. I called up The Hampton Inn (a place I had stayed before) and they immediately filled our request so we checked out and headed over.  We finally got settled in after a long night (thanks Mick for being so patient). The next day we ran a few errands then headed to The Boise Music Festival. It was held at the fairgrounds this year and boy was it hot. We got there before the Main Stage music started, set out our blanket and then we just sat there and melted. The was the line up for the day.

After several bottles of water, a shaved ice, a run through a fire hose and a couple bathroom breaks we decided we were done with the heat and we went on our way. We grabbed a bite to eat, drank a few dozen glasses of water and then went and sat in an air conditioned movie theater to watch Spiderman in IMAX 3D. Great show, great company and Great Trip! Only 6 more to go....................
